Nurture at Holy Saviour

At Holy Saviour, our whole school has a philosophy of nurturing children however, we recognise that at times, some children may need more intensive help to support them with their emotional needs.  There are a number of ways we can specifically support children, one of these ways is through our nurture groups that run in school.  Children who could benefit from a nurture group may:

  • lack self-esteem
  • be struggling to cope with bereavement or separation in the family
  • be withdrawn
  • need behaviour support
  • find it hard to make and maintain friendships

The nurture groups allow for children to discuss their feelings, problems and issues that may be worrying them and stopping them from being able to learn effectively.  Within the nurturing environment, the child is enabled to develop a trusting relationship with an adult and can be supported to relate well with others.  Over time, with appropriate interventions based on identified needs, the children can become happier, more confident and more motivated to learn.

Another way we can support children in school is with 1-1 sessions or small group activities with Mrs Riley.
